Peering through the gates, I noticed a few broken tomb stones. Some more or less intact and visible despite the weeds and brush. What I saw surprised me.
Mr Robert Stonehouse had lived till the ripe old age of 115 at a time when medicines were few and far between and life expectancy was between 45-55 years.
Another curious thought. Why would someone settle so far from Old Toronto when roads were composed of dirt and rock and transportation consisted of horse and carriage. The rails were not fully functional back then.
If anyone has any information regarding the Stonehouse family, please share as I'm curious of what became of the family and about Flossie. Did they have a farm? Who was Flossie? What happened to their home? Why is their Cemetary in such disrepair? So many unanswered questions.

Came across the same Stonehouse cemetery wondering the same and more. Are there no descendants or family left? No way to clean up the small plot who to contact?
Hello, I am a descendant of Robert Stonehouse. There are still many Stonehouse family members living in Etobicoke. The oldest is in their 90s and lives but blocks away from Stonehouse Park and cemetery. Please know that it is my intention to contact the City of Etobicoke and ensure that the cemetery is maintained properly. We also have many relatives in nearby Richview cemetery.
I've recently discovered this cemetery on one of many visits to 675 Martingrove Road; only to notice the overgrown trees 🌳etc. I hope the city will get it cleaned up soon since it's an eyesore and an indignation to the dwellers of the graves. COVID or not.
I visited the site today and it is unfortunately looking worse than ever. There are more toppled and broken stones, especially to the rear, than last time I visited. There are many broken trees littering the site and it will obviously be very overgrown come summer. It is really sad and I hope something can be done about it.
RIP Hopefully the City does something soon
