Stonehouse Cemetary in Etobicoke

With the weather being much improved, I was able to undertake a short stroll to the bank. The Stonehouse park which lies at the intersection of Sedgeley Dr and Martin Grove Rd, rarely offers a distraction. However, having time to explore my surroundings, I came upon a gated family Cemetary quite by accident. It must have belonged to a family that may have resided there about 2 centuries ago when this part of Etobicoke was barely inhabited, much less a dense section of Western Toronto.
Peering through the gates, I noticed a few broken tomb stones. Some more or less intact and visible despite the weeds and brush. What I saw surprised me.
Mr Robert Stonehouse had lived till the ripe old age of 115 at a time when medicines were few and far between and life expectancy was between 45-55 years.
Another curious thought. Why would someone settle so far from Old Toronto when roads were composed of dirt and rock and transportation consisted of horse and carriage. The rails were not fully functional back then.
If anyone has any information regarding the Stonehouse family, please share as I'm curious of what became of the family and about Flossie. Did they have a farm? Who was Flossie? What happened to their home? Why is their Cemetary in such disrepair? So many unanswered questions.
